Resolutions (Part One - There will be more!)
I can’t see me
I can’t see me
Somebody help!
Because I can’t see me!
I’m not in the mirror
Or reflecting pool
My body doesn’t conform to any of the rules
I will not contrast, I cannot compare
I can’t see me, although I’m right there
But I’m so weary
So very, very tired
I have a theory
That I’ve been too mired
In what I think I’m supposed to see
So damn that!
From now on, I’m defining me!
So I resolve…
That I will NOT be judged
By some Styrofoam waif!
I mean…
Has she birthed two children?
Fed them from her breast?
Fed them from her breast?
Went to work, paid the bills
And held down all the rest?
Hell, has she ever experienced a day full of stress?
I don’t think so!
She ain’t me
And I ain’t she
Instead I’ll try my best to be
The reflection of divinity
As God uniquely created me
